Story Behind the Song
Guitar riff had a different kind of feel to it which we all instantly loved. Kept the rhythm section to the point and tried to let the lyrics do the talking. Personally I'd like to add more harmonies and possible some strings into this tune at a later date but on a budget the best we could manage was borrowing an electric-acoustic guitar.
The reason we're all still smiling is because they haven't found the body yet....(joke)
Lyrics
The River
---------
Verse
She said take me back to the river,
From the signs that you read
And these things in my head
That I think you should know,
I'll tell you now 'cause I want to,
'Cause I want you.
You’ve got to take me back to the water,
What she said when we met
I could never forget
Now I need her to know,
How feel when I'm down there,
When I'm down there.
Chorus
Well I know by now,
I think I know by now.
Verse
She had to take me back to the river,
All The things that I know
In the current below
Can't help anymore,
I do this now 'cause I love her,
'Cause I love her.
She stood staring down at the water,
From this moment we see
We can never be free
There's no hope anymore,
I do this now 'cause you want it
'Cause you want me.
Chorus
I think I know by now,
Well I should know by now.
Verse
She asked to be one with the river,
I can't understand
She could never have planned
It's gone on for too long,
I think I'll know when I see her,
When I see her.
She said that she wanted the water,
The cold rushing flow
And the current below
It means nothing to me,
I'm here 'cause I want to be near her,
To be near her.
Chorus
I think I know by now,
Well I should know by now.
Put my hands on your head,
Pushing down and you are left for dead.
Verse
Now I'm looking down at the river,
All the pain from before
Its not there anymore
As she floats by me,
She's happy now in the water,
In the water.
She said take me back to the river,
All the things that she said
And the things in her head
They mean nothing now,
She's happy now in the water,
In the water.
Chorus
I think she knows by now
Well she should know by now.
