"Alvarado's intriguing and darkly knowing performance" Billboard-Larry Flick. Deep, Dark and Moody and lots of padding as recording engineers may put it. Angry and raw yet passionate. The music goes hand in hand with the lyrics.

    Story Behind the Song
Have you ever had one of those days that you just can't trust anyone? Well, the day I wrote "Lies" was one of those days for me. In 1993 I don't know what it was,but I was drawing some of the biggest liars in town. I can't reveal the whole truth in detail about this song because I don't want to hurt anybodys feelings. Lets put it this way, people that love you most may lie to you without the intent of hurting you. I had
a good friend who lied about everything. Though the relationship continued for years to come, it just never stopped. One day I just about had it and left my east village apartment and walked up third Ave in rage. "Lies" was written in about 3-5 minutes stomping down third Ave. I came up with the melody and lyrics sought of at the same time, which is quite unusual for me. The verses were coming to me so strong and fast that I had to run home and get it down on paper immediately. I told my producer the next morning that I believed I came up with my hit and that this time it really came from my heart. The track was some what easy for us to lay out, but I have to admit I did have difficulties with the vocals. We had two vocal sessions for "Lies", because I hated the first one. I then recorded the song again for the third time at The Hit Factory in New York for my dance single released in 1995. I even had someone finance the release of "Lies" costing an estimate of $5,000.-to record the original version again not to mention the cost of the other mixes on that single.I some how felt more confident of the second version we recorded at MJL recording studios in New York. There is something about this take that I didn't get at The Hit Factory. Believe it or not, I've recorded over forty songs and people always identify me with this one. It didn't make me rich, but it put me on the map.

    Lyrics
    Chorus: Lies-Lies
    Lies-Lies

Verse: Tell me what's up your sleeve
Damm don't you know what your doing to me
Won't stand anything you say-Why even try to work me that way-Do you think that I believe your lies
    You lie about you nationalility
You lie about designer clothes you wear-if any-You lie about the place you grew up in-and the money that was never there
To the point even you believe your lies

    Chorus: Repeat

Lies-Lies-Why do you lie to me
What have I done to you
    Lies-Lies-Never will understand
    Don't I deserve the truth

Verse: This time I want you reveal-What you feel what's not real-Those eyes faces that you make- Believe me I can see through this masquerade-What's inside in your world of lies? You lie about the men in your life and all the things they have done for you-your cruel-You lie about fancy things you own when none of it belongs to you-Not a fool would believe that this is true

    Chorus:Repeat

    Lies-Lies-Not this time around
Why can't you tell the truth
Lies-Lies-How can it get you through
    When I know you

Stop-look at yourself-Can you pretend-Take it any further-Liar-Not this time around-Your gonna go to hell-You might as well surrender-People know what your about-Your gonna understand this little game is over-Child-You need some growing up-You better stay away-Don't get any closer-Why did you have to try to impress me with your lies?

Lies-Lies-Why do you lie to me?
    Lies-Lies-It's not getting you anywhere
    Lies-Lies-Everyone contradicts every word
    Lies-Lies-You say
    Lies-Lies-No more lies-No more lies
Lies-Lies-Why can't you tell the truth
    Lies-Lies-No more lies-No more lies
    Lies-Lies-'cause I won't take it-Won't take it anymore-No-No more lies-Why do you lie to me-No more lies-No more lies-'Cause I won't take it-Won't take it anymore
