Story Behind the Song
We were on a tight time budget to make this song cuz we had our first show coming up and we didn't just wanna do covers (this song was actually written when we were Justaform but who the hell cares) so we kinda just threw it together. I had blurted out some lyrics while paul proceeded in creating the song and he thought they were good so then came the ordeal of writing a song based around these words i had yet to make sense of. But being the shitty writer i am, i pulled it off. all the meanings in the lines started coming together and i had myself a story. i guess it sounds like any other love song, but things start picking up after the first 2 verses, and you soon realize, this ain't no love song. StarWater is about something all guys or gals might experience during their adolescent dating frenzies, or attempts. I guess what i'm trying to say is the word of the day is "tease." Seemed like all my attempts at dating girls before i wrote this song just ended up with a big fat tease on my lap (actually come to think of it, i am still on a roll with them; let's hope i fail some time soon).
anyways, thanks for reading
Lyrics
When the stars came down on the water
And found reflection in your eyes
Your cloak fell off the bridge
Felt the chill of the night
and the warmth of palms on thighs
and you wished upon the stars
and I held you in my arms
Enough of this enough of you
and I can't even think of anything
besides you. And all thats left
and all you see is all you need and
im left with everything but you and
im doing just fine...
Well I wished, and I wished right
But that too didnt take flight
And I cursed and I swore
Those words broke through the floor
And Im not fine thats just in my mind
And the sky is on fire
Its burning with the ardor of my desires
[Chorus]
the legs dangling off the railroad bridge i sit here mesmorizing memories
watch the twilight on the big lake,
water flows beneath my feet just like you
everyday apparitions of you
and i'll sing a song to the dark dark clouds,
the reeds blow like your voice on a thursday afternoon,
and I sit and listen, just wanna be with you,
Well it seems that now stars have touched the water,
but this suggestion is only getting harder
Im stuck with my wits, grasping the steeple
The savage and excessive killing of people
A sound defeat cradling the day’s slaughter
And here I watch the tease of stars on water
Take it or leave it, take it or leave
What is your choice?
Take it or leave it, take it or leave
Let me hear your voice
