Lyrics
Amy and Mike were married two years
When Amy read a book by Dr. Harper
Chapter three said couples must discuss
What they find annoying in each other
Amy recalled Mike's irritating habits
Leaving jeans on the floor, bouncing balls off the walls
But worst of all was the way he ate grapefruit
He peeled them with his hands
He didn't use a spoon or a knife
Amy decided to chat with Mike
Bout' the one thing he did that bothered her most
After he returned on evening from work
She said, "Michael we've got to talk tonight"
"Something that you do, just drives me crazy"
"What is it?" he questioned with suprise in his eyes
She replied, "It's the way you eat grapefruit"
"You peel them with your hands"
"You don't use a spoon or a knife"
Amy sighed and said, "Now it's your turn"
"What is it that bothers you most about me?"
Mike scratched his head and thought for a moment
Looked her in the face and said,
"There's nothing I don't like about you"
Amy was shocked, embarrassed and ashamed
Mike had never noticed her peculiar habits
She hesitated, then said, "I'm sorry"
She never said another word
For the next 50 years
She never said another word
About the way he ate grapefruit
