    Story Behind the Song
This song took about five minutes to write and about 20 minutes to understand the mumblings I did into a mini tape deck velcroed on my guitar. I've done several takes of it but this one sounded more legit.

    Lyrics
    SILVER GUYS
    ©1998 Patrick McCoy

I was looking up one night and much to my surprise
a bunch of silver guys came falling from the skies
before the dust had settled down
one of them asked me if I'd take him to the town

    I said " I'd like to but I won't and that's because
that's not the brightest thing to do in Arkansas "
before the words had left my mouth
a bunch of rednecks came and knocked that fellow out

    and they all went home
    they all went home
    they all went home
    to the sky

about a year goes by, I'm watching my T.V.
a bunch of silver guys have landed in D.C.
I hope they brought some friends along
and sure enough they're nearly 20,000 strong

they brought a cure for this they brought a cure for that
they even brought a cure for hamsters dogs and cats
    the F.D.A. guy said " we'll see...
we'll have the test results by 2023 "

    so they all went home
    and they all went home
and they all went home to the sky

a little time went by I heard the rumors fly
another silver guy was giving it a try
he said he was the last in line
he only came to get some things they left behind

he took the children who were born without a home
he took the old ones who are always left alone
he took the sick, he took the tired
he took the hopeless and hopelessly undesired

    and they all went home
    and they all went home
and they all went home to the sky
