"AMY" is a catchy, crunchy, pop/rock tune with a great guitar hook and a killer chorus. It's also unique love story, with an awesome (true) story, plot twists, not to mention lots and lots of harmonies. |

Story Behind the Song
I fell in love with this girl. (Maybe "love" is too strong a word. Call it misguided infatuation). Only she turned out to be gay. This happens to me alot (probably need a shrink to figure out why.) Anyway, I could handle the fact that we couldn't be together as long as I knew it was because she was only into girls. But then she became infatuated with another guy! One of my best friends, no less. That really hurt, and as we all know, love/pain is the root of a great many pop songs. This song is basically my confession of my unrequited love to her, and my rather desperate offer to become absolutely anything for her - boy, girl, god, fool - anything to get her to love me. Well, it didn't work. But I am really happy with the song. Best of all, Amy digs the song, and even requested that I sing it for her at a party recently.
The recording process on this track was challenging and fun. I started it at home on my iMac, cutting a simple voice and guitar to a click. Then Ben came over to my house and did his guitar magic. I took the resulting trax over to Muddy's Ranch, and cut bass, drums and more guitars. I also cut the lead vocal at Muddy's on his Neumann U-87 Mic. Then I took all those trax back to my house and put down an insane number of background vocal trax. The final step was to take all the trax over to Eddie Miller's house, where he, frankly, mixed the heck out of it.
Please Note: This is NOT the final version of the song, which is only available on my CD, Love's Oblivion.

(Flying Bed Music/ASCAP)
Theres a girl in my heart
Lives in the broken part
And her names like a rush to me
First time I heard her sing
Swore Id give her everything
If shed just be into me
They said it couldnt be
She just likes girls you see
So I hid my love away
Then she fell for my best friend
I felt a pall descend
Love can be so cruel this way
Ill be your boy
Ill be your girl
Ill be the center of your world
Ill be your god
Ill be your tool
Ill be your scene-making fool
Amy
I can be your boy if you want me
Amy
I can be your girl if youd rather
Now Im just a lonely guy
Trying not to act like I
Need a girl to feel complete
When I dream of Amys eyes
Cant help but fantasize
How it would be to kiss her feet
Ill be your boy
Ill be your girl
Ill be the center of your world
Ill be your god
Ill be your tool
Ill be your scene making fool
Amy
I can be your boy if you want me
Amy
I can be your girl if youd rather
The gods of love are cruel
The twists of fate unkind
To lose my gay madonna
When she stepped across the line
They say that all is fair
But nothings fair to me
All she ever needed
Was my love to set her free
Amy
I can be your boy if you want me
Amy
I can be your girl if youd rather
Ill be your boy
Ill be your girl
Ill be the center of your world
Ill be your god
Ill be your tool
Ill be your scene making fool
Ill be your wrong
Ill be your right
Ill be your stranger in the night
Ill be your soul
Ill be your dream
Ill be your billion dollar scheme
Amy
I can be whatever you want me to be...
