A cool piano rock song about having too much structure |
CD: music for maybe
Credits: written by Andy Camann 2003 |
Story Behind the Song
This song revolves around a strange chord progression - D, Fadd2, C that I always used to pound out on my piano at home. I started singing a weird melody with it, and it stuck. My friend John Mayer (not the famous one) recorded the drums in his basement, then I spent a full day recording the rest. I brought a computer to my church and used the grand piano. Then I came home and used my bass and my brother's guitar to record the rest. Then, since my parents were at a Packer game, I sang the vocals and the song was done.
Lyrics
I was new, another face in the middle
I would swallow anything they said.
Its true that they tought me a little
Enough to fill my head.
But Who remembers creativity?
I tried to fit the way they molded me
Those fools and the rules they knew.
You hide in the box they folded
Well tell me, how's the view?
And who remembers creativity?
La de da, I'm far too old
To do everything I'm told
La de da, la de da de da
Who remembers not knowing any better.
You got it made. Yeah, everybody knows you
Just the way they want you to be
Who remembers, who remembers me?
