Story Behind the Song
The music for the intro and verse had been kicking around for a while and then one night the first verse and chorus just popped out, probably inspired by a documentary I’d seen on poverty stricken areas of the US. It showed scenes of very run down houses and house trailers, many of which had new pickup
trucks and nice bass boats in their driveways, new garden tractors in the front
yard and TV dishes on their roofs. The contrast struck me funny. The following day the song kept haunting me, even though the parts I’d come up with were really kind of a goof and very simplistic, I figured I’d finish the song more as a songwriting exercise than take it seriously. Driving down the road lyrics kept coming and I had to pull over and scribble down the rest of
them on some drywall tape I had in the back of my truck. I just threw on a typical 4 to 5 type bridge and that was that. I’m really surprised at the response this song gets out in public, people always sing along.
Lyrics
GONNA EMAIL MY BUDDIES, AND TELL THEM TO GET OVER HERE
AND STOP BY THE LIQUOR STORE AND GET PLENTY OF BEER
(CHORUS)
WE’RE GONNA HAVE A GOOD TIME ALL NIGHT AND DAY
WE’RE GONNA HAVE A FUNKY GOOD TIME
AT THE TRAILER PARK SOIREE
WE’LL INVITE SOME DEBUTANTES FROM WAY CROSS TOWN
THEY LIKE TO GO SLUMMIN AND THEY REALLY GET DOWN
GONNA WARN ALL THE NEIGHBORS AND PAY OFF THE COPS
ONE THING I KNOW FOR SURE WE AIN'T NEVER GONNA STOP
CHORUS
BRIDGE
INSTRUMENTAL
REPEAT BRIDGE
FISH WILL BE FRYING, WE’LL BE SMOKIN SOME RIBS
AND WHEN IT COMES TO HOCKS AND GREENS YOU’RE GONNA NEED A BIB
OL’ GRANNY’S BRINGING POSSUM PIE, GIRLS DON’T LOOK SO ILL
IT’S MADE WITH GRANNY’S LOVE AND LAST NIGHTS ROAD KILL
CHORUS
REPEAT CHORUS
