Richard Yandle was sitting at the Gypsy coffeehouse in Tulsa, writing the 1st verse. He asked me to put music to it, I encouraged and collaborated, and a couple hours later, this rough mix was came out. |

Story Behind the Song
You'd have to listen to the song and find out what it means to you... For me, it's about doing one's best, while recognizing human limitations. You'd have to ask Richard what HE had in mind when he started.
As was said, this is a rough mix done just after the song was written.
Lyrics
Journey through the spirit gate
And open your minds clear.
Realize your destiny, fate,
And forget about those fears.
Clean the table for your next meal,
And fold your blankets right.
Remember how it makes you feel
When you see (look at) the stars at night.
CHORUS: When you finish all these things
And you begin to understand
Open up your heart and sing
I am only a man.
Go work your fingers to the bone
Every single day
So that when you finally make it home
You can watch your children play.
Go make right what you’ve done wrong,
Do it with a grin.
Listen close as I sing this song
Living life... is not a sin.
REPEAT CHORUS
Go chase a comet by its tail
And whistle a Dixie tune
Climb aboard and set your sail
I’ll meet up with you real soon
Drink the wine of your life
And savor each drop
Forget in your mind (you just might have)
That you ever wanted to stop.
REPEAT CHORUS
Ride your horses like the wind
And climb the mountain top
Think about how your life has been
And pray it never stops
