Story Behind the Song
This song was written first as an acoustic guitar instrumental country blues, then had a drum and bass part added to it, then had it's tempo and rhythm materially changed. Then the acoustics became electrics and everything got really hard and slammy. I set the lyrics and wrote the melody over the backing tracks. This song was written and recorded in its final version on a Sunday morning during two cups of coffee on the desk in the kitchen. It's about people in the government who seem to have willfully confused safety with a police state and liberty with what you are allowed. Given that, it's also about what we ought to do, in my humble opinion, i.e. cooperate and trust each other, which we usually do.
Lyrics
Hey, everybody
It's time to work together
All work together now
Brothers and sisters
This is the right occasion
All work together now
And everybody's like me
And everybody's a screw
Maybe you wanna'
Haul off and slap your neighbor
All work together now
And they will spy upon me
And they will spy upon you
And everybody's like me
And everybody's a screw
