According to Arthurian legend, a war was waged over the keeper of the Sword. Only the once and future King Arthur can wield the Sword and release its power. King
Arthur is clearly a picture of Christ, the only once and future King. The war is spiritual, good vs. evil. The singing Sword is the Bible, the living Word of God. The Legacy referred to in the lyrics of this song, are symbolic of the fulfilled prophecies of the Bible. |
Story Behind the Song
Ken Keller's deep lyrics, symphonic drama and powerful vocals reveal the hidden parallels between the Medieval legend of King Arthur, and the Biblical truth of Christ. The legend of King Arthur is believed to have been a camouflaged portrayal of the Bible throughout the Dark Ages. In an effort to cleverly eclipse and yet perpetuate the truth of Jesus, during a time of fatal persecution of Christians. Written at the kitchen table, completed in less than an hour. Ken recorded the vocals in one take. Obviously, the orchestration tracks took much longer. Motivated by the triumphant discovery of the Truth. Like deciphering the answer to an ancient riddle, the lyrics spilled forth. (For further understanding, see Revelation 19:11-21, the last book of the Bible.)
Lyrics
THE SINGING SWORD
On their horses, knights in armor,
racing through a forest toward a hill.
Prophecies and riddles solved,
the Legacy awaits to be fulfilled.
The Legacy, a golden Sword that sings.
He who wields the singing Sword is King.
Generations past, two thousand years
the land is cursed with dark and cold.
Riddles made, a sorcerer's game,
one must solve to find the Sword of gold.
A Sword of gold, the magic Sword that sings.
He who wields the singing Sword is King.
All you people of this land beware.
Darkness fills your land that once was fair.
An evil did abduct the Sword
and cast it to it's tomb within a cave.
The land then fell to darkness.
Now the wicked rules, until the Sword is saved.
Save the Sword, the golden Sword that sings.
He who wields the singing Sword is King.
All you people, soon the Sword will be free.
Then the darkness will no longer be.
(instrumental break)
All you people, the evil will be gone.
A King will arise and a new day will dawn.
On their horses, knights in armor,
dressed for battle, racing to a kill.
The sorcerer perched high, awaits an army,
as the Legacy's fulfilled.
The Legacy, a golden Sword that sings.
He who wields the singing Sword is King.
