Story Behind the Song
During those spiritually receptive teenage years the author (me!) was visited by a poltergeist who would routinely knock and bang on furniture in the room apparently in an effort to make contact! Toby respectfully asks the spirit to 'move on' while Annie sings the part of the ghost saying "I only ever came here to try and help you".
Lyrics
Who are you, where are you from,
Why can't you let me be?
Who are you, why is it me you call,
Why can't you let me sleep?
I feel your frozen empty touch,
Upon my aching head.
I hear your desperate knocking for me,
Why is it you're not dead?
chorus:
(Annie) All I ever came here to do was help you,
You don't have to be scared of me,
Depend on, when times are hard,
It's me who'll pull you through.
I feel it when you're talking to me,
I know when you're around.
I feel you leaning over me,
Without making a sound.
You see in through my consciousness,
A presence all the time.
But it's time for you to leave me now,
Go back to your own kind.
chorus
break
(Annie) Save you love for me, save your love for me.
Save you love for me, save your love for me.
