The song is a stab at our political life here in the U.S. in terms of war and riots whatnot. It's the closeset thing to a political song we have so far.
CD: Guzzling Colors (Coming Soon)   Label: none
Credits: Bruce Gates: drums, bass, guitar, vocals

    Story Behind the Song
This song was born out of an accident. While trying to record other guitar parts for various songs on the upcoming Guzzling Colors CD, I fumbled around with various songs and altered them little by little and then I just started playing this guitar part for no reason. It just so happened that I recorded the whole thing unknowingly. I went back and built on it for about a week until I was satisfied with the music. It took me about two days to get the original lyrics down, but they went through several changes over a month's time until they were "etched in stone" so to speak. The guitar took about two takes, bass and drums took one each, and vocals took about five. The only reason I sing on this track is because Holly didn't want to say "whore" and said it was too low for her, so I gave it a shot. I slightly alterted my singing voice for this song just to see if it sounded any better and it made me sound a little better than I normally do so, I kept it.

    Lyrics
    Self proclaimed paradigm of authority
Trust our God, we are slaves to our history
Break the noose 'round the neck of the innocent
Tie it back 'round the neck of a pessismist
Fall around on the ground of a battlefield
Take a nap in the back of your riot shields

Take a chance take a chance take a risk for me
Take a pill for a thrill, live in apathy
If you want we can bury our dreams
We can look the other way

Sit around take a look at the lives we live
Taking more, caring less than we ever give
Something must call to arms if there is no war
Living in times of peace is a ratings whore

Take a chance take a chance take a risk for me
Take a pill for a thrill, live in apathy
If you want we can bury our dreams
if you want we can bury our dreams
We can look the other way
If you want we can cover our eyes
'cuz it seems like I've gone blind
I will look the other way
I will try to ignore the pain
