	Story Behind the Song I wrote this song after having spent an afternoon at City Island in the Bronx with a friend and her mother. We were driving back, and talking about sunsets, and I commented on how a sunset never looks the same at two different points in the world, and how it is something naturally unique. My friend then commented that the reasons for the colorful sunsets was because of the toxins and pollution that exists in our atmosphere, and even though I knew that to be true, I had been caught up in the romanticism of a "beautiful sunset". It occurred to both of us that we were probably better off not having known why sunsets were that way, and I thought that it would be an excellent subject for a song of how we as a society handle change and seem to accept certain changes that aren't beneficial to all, but seem (for some) at the time the right thing to do. Lyrics used to watch the sunset every afternoon and marvel at it's iridescent light long before i learned the way we fill the sky with chemicals that's why it looks that way used to be there was a name that i could call and that name was for you and you alone but words have turned against me now and the day has changed and am i lost and you have gone away chorus: there was a silent moment on a shadowed hill where the life i'd known before retired and laid upon the grass there was a spark that lit the way back through the dark but i am struggling with my steps just trying to keep up used to be a face recalled and liked so well that shone with the joy and love of peace but that face doesn't shine once more for it's too mature and faces turn all now to war and hate used to be a person looking for the truth any everywhere it felt that it was found but it seems today that hope has left and faith is gone and the people ask each other where is god chorus used to be that say you foe or say you friend i would open my arms to you with love and the sacred bonds of kindship would arise in you and brotherhood was more than just a word chorus there used to be a song that i would love to sing a song of all the dreams we didn't make cuz we live life by the things we have and things we see and what we could or not believe but i say let the dream begin with me
