    Story Behind the Song
    I wrote this song in Houghton, NY. It came together pretty quickly. I was enjoying the comfort of being among friends in a very safe and campy environment. I began reminiscing about my past and present experiences there and incorporated them together into this song. I like this song, the feel of it, and intend to sometime soon record it to my liking and put it to bed. This is the latest rendition. Andy and I threw this together in a rush at my apartment in Syracuse during the "Canastota" sessions.

    Lyrics
    Skippin' a stone,
    Down by the four tree trunks.
    Pickin' a bone with you,
    By the sun, by the moon.

    We had our day,
    Our day in the smiling spring star.
    Yes, and we had our way;
    The earth melted with love,
    The sap ran high.

    And when our mouths were dry
    We drank from the cool spring well.
    Our cups overfilled
    And we stayed satisfied.

    And if we got cold,
    We stepped out of the shade
    And lay in the fields baked by the sun.
    Accompanied by the birds
    Just singin' their song;
    The song of the wind
    While the grass danced around.

    Yes His hand sustained us.
    There was no reason to roam.
    We were at home in our hearts.
    ...In the sweet summertime.
    ...Just sittin' at home with you.
    ...I can see it all before me now.
    ...We were at home in our hearts.
