	Story Behind the Song It's hard to watch the legacy of Hoover play itself out, whether it be the fact that the battle for equal rights for women is STILL not won, and that violent targeting and institutional discrimination against gays and lesbians is still commonplace. It's harder still when you know that Hoover himselfas a closet homosexual with a long and shameful career punishing those who guiltlessly and openly chose their lives for acts he himself practiced and hid from the world. I guess you could say it's a song about hypocrisy and how the lies hypocrites like Hoover left behind continue to poison us. Lyrics Sergeant Sunday (J.
