An honest and open song about the daily struggle to make sense of an often insensible world.
CD: Trillium   Label: Spoon Shack Recordings
Credits: Liam F. O'Kane: Drums/Vocals, Llanya O'Kane: Bass, Ted Grey: Guitar

    Story Behind the Song
The song is based on a poem entitled "How Do We Evolve?" written by Liam F. O'Kane. The main melody was written on the bass guitar by Liam and the lyrics are an extension of the main chorus which is a near-direct quote from the poem referenced above. The song was recorded at Spoon Shack Studios last fall with Harvest adding the beautiful and suigeneris vibe you hear with total probity.

    Lyrics
Now my father once said son you’ll never get ahead unless you put your shoulder to the wheel
and learn how not to feel

So I took his words to heart
and I found out from the start
that the world is cruel and mean
    and you’re better off unseen

So I took a steady job
tried hard not to be cruel
    went back and studied hard
for a masters in grad school

    (Chorus)
    How do I evolve
when the world has me swimming
    in a bottle of despair
I wish I had the courage
    to vanish in the air

Now my father he seems proud
and he wants me to be good
never raise my voice too loud
always do that which you should

    Now anguish is the language
    and strife is in my
    life
    and I often wonder when
I should end it with a
    knife

But its you that keeps me feeling
and its you that keeps me reeling
and I have no need of fear
as long as you are near

    (Repeat Chorus)
