Story Behind the Song
The title is tentative.
I found a demo of the main riffs I'd recorded a year ago and forgotten about. I listened and was like, "That's really good." Lyrics soon followed.
Lyrics
Through all this, life is
a current, a tide,
a spectrum
and everything’s gray.
We’re too old to throw dishes
and too young
to run away,
so we’re talking.
And we promise to change, we try to change.
This compromise: a win, a loss.
To get away, to get away,
to see it all new.
(chorus)
I miss Arizona.
I miss Las Vegas.
I miss the thousands of miles of
unspoiled beaches
that never lead to the sea.
You get mad and you
say things you don’t
mean, then you’re
sorry.
I get hurt and I
shut up, a myste-
ry. And I’m
sorry. That’s not fair.
And we promise to change, we try to change.
This compromise: a win, a loss.
To get away, to get away,
to see it all new.
(chorus)
Through all this,
life with you is
a beautiful challenge.
