	Beki and I worked on this song like crazy to get it done before she left. Would've liked to have had more time on the recording end of it but it tuned out okay. See 'view track info' for more.

	Story Behind the Song Beki wanted to write a song for Chad to express how she felt about him and their relationship. She sent me a rough draft she had worked on. I gave her a series of "assignments" to help her in editing and finalizing her thoughts. 1st she was to write a letter or a journal entry or something, expressing all of her feelings without holding back anything, or rejecting ideas that she might think were dumb. It was to be kept by her as a reference only, not to be shown to me or anyone. That made it safe for her to write anything she could think of. Next I asked her to send me a one-page summary of the ideas she liked best. After that I had her reduce it down to one paragraph, then a single sentence. Pretty soon we had come up with the title: Te Amo (a Spanish form of 'I love you'). I took everything she sent me and played around with the structure, changed words here and there to fit the meter and rhythm that was developing, and finally came up with the piano part. The melody was actually the last thing to get finished. I recorded the piano, then myself singing the words so she could learn the timing and see how they fit with the music. She only had a few days left by then. Finally, we transposed the whole thing into her range and recorded it in about six takes. She was holding back a bit during the recording, maybe because Chad was upstairs and it was supposed to be a surprise. She has a great voice, I hope we'll be able to record some more when she gets home. Lyrics Te Amo Some say, "Why leave love behind?" I pray for peace in this heart of mine While a part of me dies.
