What kid can pass a fountain without throwing in a penny and making a wish? This fun song is all about making wishes and realizing the consequences of what you wish for!
CD: No Monsters Under My Bed   Label: NexTune (independent)

    Story Behind the Song
This song was inspired by my daughter's ritual of ridding my pockets of spare change every time we walk by a fountain. She throws in the coins and makes a wish. I've always wondered what she wishes for but she won't tell me or, she says, it won't come true. This song was a fun way of guessing what her dreams are, and making sure they don't turn into nightmares!

    Verse 1:

I threw a penny in the wishing well today
I hoped my dreams would come true someway
I wished for a mountain of ice cream and chocolate cake
Couldn't eat it all 'cause I'd just get a tummy ache
So in the wishing well I threw
    Another penny or two
Maybe next time my wish will come true

    Verse 2:

I threw a penny in the wishing well today
I closed my eyes then I began to dream away
I wish I'd get a pony of my own real soon
But my dad would say I couldn't keep it in my room
So in the wishing well I threw
    Another penny or two
Maybe next time my wish will come true

    Verse 3:

I wished for a million dollars then said, "no thanks!"
'Cause I'd never fit it all in my piggy bank
So in the wishing well I threw
    Another penny or two
Maybe next time my wish will come true

    Repeat:

In the wishing well I threw
    Another penny or two
Maybe next time my wish will come true
