Story Behind the Song
About a year ago I created a CD with a couple of 30-second tunes I created in my computer and sent to a childhood friend just to get his reaction. He was really pleased with its sound and encouraged me to just pick one of the songs and expand it into a full-length track. That was when I picked "Together we fall" - still working title - previously called "Marea".
Quickly "Together we fall" became my object of obsession over two to three months. At the time I was extremely overwhelmed with the huge work load I got from school, always keeping up the pace at work.
It was late at night, at some break after studying for a final, when I could finally get some time for the song. Sometimes it would take an hour, three hours or just a couple of minutes trying to figure out how songs were made.
I have never studied music and I have never written a song before, therefore, it was just this whole experience of learning and understanding of how songs are created. The only thing I could count on was my one million theories of how other musicians worked on their styles.
I knew this was going to be my first song but I actually didn't want to have something really plain, at least in my opinion. I wanted to be a little bitter. I didn't want something extremely fluid because my main concern was to reach different higher levels. In a movie you are prepared for two hours to see a final moment when everything comes together which is reffered as the climax. In "Together we fall" I wanted that but in many points of the song. Towards the end you can finally feel all the leads battling against each other before it suddenly ceases to reaveal a rythmic pulse that seems ever-lasting like a human heart beat.
Even though, the song's feel is very electronic the song counts with more than the use of synthethizers, I also used cough and breathing samples, bird samples, sounds created with home objects, etc.
If you like the song let me know about. Write to edgar@fontuz.com
