Story Behind the Song
Last track off my demo. Originally written to be a more straight forward pop tune. But we added some choir vocals, jazz drums, a diehard slidesolo and presto we have ourselves a 5 minute epic! But I still love the way it turned out. Hope you do too. (?)
Lyrics
Wait and see
Thought by now I’d know what to say,
Find a way to convince you to stay.
Never usually this afraid, but most of the time I’m far enough away.
Got to get it figured somehow, even if you’re nowhere around.
Need to know you’re safe and sound.
Like to think it’s the balance in me, that leads me to believe.
I need to think it’s not just me.
For a minute I thought it was you.
You shed a smile and pulled me through.
Now I’m supposed to find someone new,
But I know I never do.
Wait and see what wonders this world has in store for me.
And just bide my time, something tells me that I will find;
Things will work out fine.
Know the loneliest time of the day, when the streetlights go out.
Right before the sun comes up, that’s when I need to know you’re there.
When the minutes turn to days and the days tend to change.
It never really bothered me, until I started saying things I should not say…
Like I wished it would have been you.
For the rest of my life shed your smile and pull me through.
No, got to find someone new. But I know I’ll never do.
No, no, no one will ever do.
But I’ll wait and see what this world has in strore for you and me.
And just bide my time; something tells me it will be enough to get us by.
And I know we’ll be just fine.
