Story Behind the Song
Second track off my solo demo. This one was originally supposed to be a more groove-funk kind of track. But then I started fooling around with the keyboard arrangements and it turned out to be a more Peter Gabriel meets Creed kind of number. I'm especially proud of that little melody in the end there, where Sami (the guitarist) and me just let it rip. Hope you enjoy this little doozy.
Lyrics
Day 2 Day
It doesn’t really matter what you think.
It’s totally inconsequential; you sink or swim.
It shouldn’t matter whether or not you know.
But don’t say you haven’t been told..
The stranger goes home alone
And will return no-matter how far thrown
To lead a life; The burden, the trouble, the strife.
I’m in need of an understanding wife.
Damn these clocks, they keep me turning
Turning, turning, turning around.
While something makes me wish
I’d get something more out of this.
And the strangers dance in a crowd.
Never been loved, never be found.
I know that salt in your veins is there to keep you sane.
But even if you learn to live with the pain, it’s never quite the same.
Just try living day-to-day and hope you’ll be eventually saved.
Stay who you are…
Close my eyes and I see you there
No halo on your head, no wings on your back.
And I saw the way your heart got attacked
There just ain’t no cure for something like that.
But you never lost your glow eventhough the world is vicious and cold.
Even with that pain in your chest you always did your best.
I promise to do my best.
This stranger goes home alone
To return no-matter how far thrown,
Let him dance in the beautiful crowd,
Let him be loved! Let him be found!
I know that salt in your veins is there to keep you sane.
But even if you learn to live with the pain, it’s never quite the same.
Just try living day-to-day and hope you’ll be eventually saved.
Stay who you are…
