Story Behind the Song
I started this song with the premise of an aggresive stand against teen suicide. Finally I relized that the words didn't quite fit the mood of the song. Back to the drawing boards and I came out with a little history lesson. The idea of a song that put a spin on the Messenian Wars. In the end the song and lyrics came together quite nice and only a few takes were needed.
Lyrics
Chariot Brigade
underscored the powderkeg
so walk among the dead, give into the stakes
that are fed
blood to the core, shame left at the door
this is the will of men
butcher the slaves with midnight red
300 ready
push the scene back, a little further 9
in the end what do you see? 7
300 strong, battle lead
everything is just a memory that i once had
of a tradegy i once lived once upon a time in a distant land
and the farms will not grow, the soldiers unharmed, frayed ends further
apart right in my hands
push the time back a little further
ne-ver go-ing a-way
just wondering
everything a memory that i once had
of a distant land
once upon a time in a dream
everything i must say, is falling apart a-round me
just wondering
and the chariot stills rides on far away
just wondering
lead them straight into the heat
and let's not get hurt
for spears only sting when armor isn't worn
no soldier is above another
no hair standing up straight on your back
don't flinch one inch further
back in time
falling away
running a-gain
so walk among the dead
and give into the stakes
that are fed, blood at the core, shame left at the door
300 strong, now dead
