    Story Behind the Song
I was sitting on my front porch one evening
and hadn't written in several days....I looked up behind to see this blue house looming up and proceeded to write a song about how I felt about where I was living at the time.

    Lyrics
I Live In A Blue House
    J. D. Richards

I sing for my supper and love every moment
As long as I'm anywhere out of Beaumont
I've adopted this island - When I'm here I'm home
I moved down here to be close to my daughter
She's an angel on earth - I'm lucky I've got her
If it wasn't for her I'd probably be dead
    Chorus:
I live in a blue house eight blocks from the ocean
I love it here. I live in slow motion.
No reason to worry - No reason to worry at all
I live in a blue house on Galveston Island
Everywhere I turn the people are smiling
I'm in no hurry -I'm in no hurry at all

Been married more times than I care to remember
In the beginning it's always "Love - ah - me - tender"
Somebody slap me if I ever get that notion again
I've got lots of friends - Too many to mention
There's pretty ladies in every direction
I'm still looking for the one whose looking for me
    Chorus:
    Instrumental Break:

Tonight I'm playing to put food on my table
    Lord this isn't work - I'm lucky I'm able
There was a time I thought I'd never do this again
    My memory's gone - That's a blessing and a curse
But I wish I could remember the 2nd verse
It's getting better the longer that I'm down here.
    Chorus:
