This song was inspired by my daughter. It's a song about the pains of letting go.
Credits: Thanx to Duane and Shane.

    Story Behind the Song
This song was written at the park while I was watching my 3 kids play. It took about two hours to complete it. I cried every second of the two hours. Recorded the guitar in one take and the vocals in about seven or eight takes cause the tears kept coming. You fathers will understand. I still cry every time I hear this song.

    Lyrics
    Daddy Can You

She's 5 years old startin school today
So lets go to the park for one more play
She says Daddy push the swing and go real high
But all I can do is watch and cry

I wasnt around much when she was born
To busy workin' hard to pay the loans
And now she'll walk right out that door today
A big school girl with something to say

Daddy can you walk with me to the corner bus stop
Cause I'm a little scared to be all by myself
So I hold her hand and say itll be just fine
And Ill love ya till the end of time

Now she's 23 and gettin' married today
Such a pretty young woman well on her way
Shell make a life and a family of her own
Soon we'll just talk on the telephone

So we're all dressed up and Ill give her away
Yea, another man will hold her close today
As I hold her hand and walk her down the aisle
She just looks at me with that little girl smile

And says Daddy can you walk me on down the wedding aisle
Cause Im a little scared like when I was a child
So I hold her hand and say itll be just fine
And Ill love ya till the end of time

Now she's 45 and dying of cancer today
So I sit and think and cry and pray
Ive loved her since before her birth
Parents shouldnt see their kids die first

So I tuck her into bed one last time
I kiss her cheek and she kisses mine
As I hold her hand and look in her eyes
She just looks at me with that little girl smile

And says Daddy Ill be walkin with Jesus tonight
And Im a little scared without you by my side
So I hold her hand and say it'll be just fine
And Ill love ya till the end of time
