Story Behind the Song
This song was inspired by a Jenny McCarthy look-a-like, and by the feeling of being so down that you just have to laugh. It was recorded from the audience at a live show at Zaphod's Beeblebrox in Ottawa, Ontario.
Lyrics
you, you are my rum & you're the coke bottle I drink it from/ you are my pain & my sun burning me up in my veins - you'd be the one to tug my strings/ for until now we're playing wait & see all over town/ under my nose, feels like a thorn in me smells like a rose - just leave me to my old repose/ she laughs away, in spades & with feathers tickling me/ I cannot say this way is quite how I ought to feel/ so, don't get too close, because you're addictive & I've overdosed/ I can feel sad, wish you'da thought of that before you laughed - do you really wanna break my back/ I should've known all that was glistening was just fools gold/I'm going down, without the dignity to raise a frown - where'd I go, what depths in me have I found?/ you are my rope, taking me higher up slippery slopes/ oh no, caught in the race, I tumble down and land straight on my face - oh no, no saving grace/ and then, between exams, you're walking all sexy like I give a damn/ you turned on us all - what do you care, you won't be back next fall
