    Story Behind the Song
I originally wrote this song *many* years ago when I was a member of a band called Omega Final. Another member of the band, Alton Peters, gave me a cassette tape of some music he had been working on that he didn't have any words for. As I listened to the cassette, the music of one of his compositions seemed to speak to me. I could hear the words "light a candle" and as I thought about those words eventually a concept for the song arose and I completed the rest of the lyrics. Basically, the song is about love treated carelessly and subsequently lost and an effort to convince that lost love to rekindle the flame of desire that once burned. I originally wrote the song to be sung by a female, so I had to change the key of the song to suit my voice. Recently, after putting together my home studio, I pulled the old song out of the archives and put some new music behind it and voila! Light A Candle was reborn.

    Lyrics
    (Chorus)
    Light a candle
    In your heart
    Make a wish
But don't blow out the fire
And like the beacon of a lighthouse
It will lead me to the one I desire
    (Verse 1)
    Relationships like ours
    (The one we had)
Are so very hard to find
    You loved me so
    But baby, I was blind
(Too blind to see what was right in front of me)
    A love so strong
(A stronger love there could never be)
    Tell me what went wrong
Every day I cry an ocean
(Hoping to wash you on my shore)
    And every night I pray
To see you walk through my door
    (Chorus)
    (Verse 2)
    I was a fool
A fool to let you go
But even a fool can learn
    And now (I know)
Just how much you mean to me
    But is it too late
(For things to be like they used to be)
    If I made the sky
    Fall into the sea
Could I make you fall back
    Back in love with me
    (Chorus)
