Story Behind the Song
In Debt 2 U was the concept of Dale Goode and Rick Dye of D and R Productions. Sitting around in the basement studio in which Dale and Rick call the "lab". Rick suggested that the team come up with a phat track with beautiful strings and smooth vocals. The two left the "lab" and came up with ideas overnight. Dale went home and dug out an idea he had from a few years back and Rick thought about the words and vocal arrangements. The next day the two connected back at the lab and brought all ideas to the table. The result was one of the hottest adult contemporary songs written. However, they needed two components to really make the song tight. A smooth singer and a someone to play acoustic guitar. They connected with singer Jeff Rush who brought his guitarist from his band to the studio session. The total song took about 5 hours to complete. One hour to play the guitar part, two hours to lay the vocals and two additional hours to mix and master. Now D and R is ready to share this song with the world.
