this peice is dedicated to my fathers father who was from India from the region that is now Pakistan. I did this peice because I have always loved classical east Indian music and have dabbled with it over the years. Instrumental Rhythmic peice some who have the first CD it was released on ("the Promise Kept") have used for background music for meditation and massage sessions. |
CD: "the Promise Kept" (' 00) "All My Relations" (03)
Label: both titles are self published by the Artist
Credits: Mark: Vocals, all instruments heard played on Gtr. Synthesizer (violin, bass, sitar, flute, horn, keyboards, floor Tom, tabla), except Rhythm track (programmed by Mk) |
Story Behind the Song
this song was really created in one take on the first day I brought home the Roland Gr30 Gtr Synth. I took it out of the box, turned it on and the sitar was the first patch I tried. I ran it thru my Electro/Harmonix 16 sec digital delay and created a loop then jammed over it with the violin patch (2nd patch I tried). after playing with it for a bit I turned on the 4 track and played a bass line with it. All done in one take(for each track). So in a sense it was improvised. It was added to the first CD (the Promise Kept)and called "Alixinasia", then when the Idea for All My Relations came to me I remixed and edited it and changed the name to "Abu in Asia" so I could dedicate it to my Dads father Abu Fazl who was born in India.
