	Story Behind the Song Dirts favorite Line(s): ‘luckily He takes the initiative to reveal Himself’, ‘as if his own hand wrote the script’, ‘so shall we meditate n partake in fellowship/ with God and the knowledge that He come with’ This track was the final installation of the concept portion of the album. We went through struggles (‘Blunted Edge’), the answer to those struggles (‘Christ’), where you can learn more about that answer (‘Scripture’), and finally here where a friend helps you get back on your feet. ‘Saving Private You’ represent how you always have that close friend who will come in, even if it means putting him/herself in harms way, to get you out. There’s actually one line in ‘Blunted edge’ that sparked the whole idea for this song, ‘my man came and prophesied’. There was a night when a good friend (Andrew) came over and just sat with me. He didn’t say anything for a long time. We both just sat there in silence. I in my self pitying hole, and he in his enduring friendship and desire to see me out of it all. Later that night he started breaking me off and telling me that I needed to get it together. That was the same night I spoke about in the ‘Christ’ memories, where I suddenly realized that I was wasting away. This song delved even further into the ideas surrounding that time of my life. This one, specifically, about how there are friends that always seek the best for you. Where most people are willing to go through the good with you, these companions are readied to battle down the bad with you (even if you are too depressed to do any fighting yourself!). While I was out in New York, I wanted to get 7lock on the album somehow. He was on the last one 4 times. Him and me had this song ready to go, but money was tight. I ended up sending him the tracks on ADAT with a 3 day time limit, worrying if it would be done in time. But 7lock jumped on it so fast it came back in 2 days. To me there was no one better to represent the songs idea than 7, the crown prince of ‘Shadow of the Locust’. Plus Jendor’s production pulled it all together tightly. Months before recording, he was at my pad creating the 3 tracks he delivered to the album. We got that bassy main loop from some movie soundscore album I had, and all those vocal samples of a marine sargeant from another record (‘So you want to be a Marine’). Like I said, time restraints and financial struggles had me thinking this track was not gonna make the final album. But in the long run, a lot of hard work and perserverance gaurantted its success.
