Chank-a-chank rock song on the state of the world and oneself.
CD: Sprinting round a once inch circle   Label: Figment: self-released
    Credits: Jim Bryce: words/music/ realisation

    Story Behind the Song
The realisation that often I do things which I disagree with, and conversely,
the things I believe in I often don't do,
and how we keep looking outside ourselves for the answers, but it's actually up to us.
Took about 3 years from initial idea to
    complete realisation.
    Backing was done at home.
    Vocals about three takes.

    Lyrics
I must be a stupid bastard or a moron -
(Excuse me while I state my point of view)
I keep talking about things that I’m not sure on,
And the things that I believe in I just don’t do.

I’ve got this world that I’ve created
To try to make a better way to be,
But all my positives become negated,
    And protection nurtures insecurity.

    But, oh ! I’m quite O.K., I’m a western sophisticate,
As soon as I find all the answers, it’ll all start to relate.
But oh ! I’ve got it fixed, nearly figured out the score,
Just one more piece of the jigsaw and I’ll know what we’re living for.

I’ve got this dream I’m rearranging to explain out the “how”, the “what”, the “where”, the “why”,
But through the megabytes a voice is raging, saying “What the hell,” just ask yourself “ is I ?”

They say there’s a wisdom that comes with aging
They say there’s a god called man’s maturity
But somewhere, we’ve got this thing that needs assuaging
As soon as it is clear then we’ll be free

And oh, we’ve got the tools, the science, technology,
The government reports, the political retorts, the won, the lost, the fees,

And yeah, we’ve got it from statistics, the critics, the F.T.,
Then why, oh why, when we look at the sky, do we feel so damned unreal ?

I must be a stupid bastard or a moron -
(Excuse me while I state my point of view)
I keep talking about things that I’m not sure on,
And the things that I believe in I just don’t do.
