Story Behind the Song
Nothing’s Changed talks about parental psychological abuse of power within a family circle.
From the outside of that circle, they appear as a model family: children well behaved, house in perfect order, parents never fight. But i reality, terror is at the heart of this apparent order: the children's true personality is restrained, words are filtered, and emotions censured.
As a defense mechanism, the parents will continue to repeat what they wish was the truth: that their family is the ideal one.

From the outside looking in
Our house was harmony
Parents, children happy
Yet waves of anger hung like stormclouds
A floating menace
Over our heads at all times
Tip-toeing around : quiet,
silent and petrified
Knowing full well
They could blow up at any time
Brains sickened by years of isolation
“We are victims,
Everyone else is the bad guy”
Some people are born needing a pill,
Needing a pill, I need a pill…
“A favor calls for one in return
We gave you all that’s the thanks we get”
One moment perfect ; the next, criminals
One moment perfect , the next…
In the nick of time, I wanna go home
In the nick of time, please take me home
Her face in a red haze,
She was vicious, screaming three toned voice
Showering my sister with maddening shouts
Violent reprimands for who she is at heart
“Everybody’s envious”
Nothing’s changed
“We’re the perfect family”
Nothing’s changed
“Everybody’s envious”
“Everybody envies us”
“Holy pure and glorious”
