This song catches the elusive deal that every musician seems to be after--a record contract. Some may go to N.Y., others to L.A., but this singer wants to go to Nashville. |

Story Behind the Song
One of my dreams has always been to get a record deal in some capacity, in Nashville, for example. So I wrote some lyrics about how fed up I was with my current situation, with a chorus line at the end of each verse, and then put it to a country sounding piano part. The song has a fast tempo, and really drives the idea home. Once I had the idea for the song, it didn't take long to write. With the charts in front of me, it only took a few takes on each track to record it.
Lyrics
I got me some songs
And a truckload of gear.
I got the radio on
I got a great big tear
For this old town,
It just ain't no good.
I'm gonna get me a contract
And move to Nashville, Tennessee.
I went to the college
Got a couple of degrees.
I had a good job
But not enough for me.
I bought a new car
For everyone to see.
I'm gonna get me a contract
And move to Nashville, Tennessee.
I go to church on Sunday
I'm as polite as can be.
I go to work on Monday
All for you and me.
I pay all my bills
And my taxes too.
I'm gonna get me a contract
And move to Nashville, Tennessee.
