Story Behind the Song
Story: This song evokes images of gothic hula girls performing a loud death mass. Working on the instrumental to an upcoming song, I was visited by some friends of mine. Art is a beautiful thing when the fingerprints of many scar and affect it. Yielding my Hawaiian Tourist Ukelele, Ben McFadden (Brainchild behind Bendependent Films "http://www.cafeshops.com/Benrulez") made his foray into the world of music with this carefully constructed ukelele line while I screamed and made upsetting noises. It takes a few listens to catch the feeling. Love it.
Concept:
The descent of a new god upon a Pacific civilization. This god takes the shape of a four-string guitar that teaches the followers music, something they hadn't heard before. Their previous god, a cold, heartless machine, roars angrily in the beginning and then cries desparately to them after the Ukelele's initial mass. The shouts get louder and the former god has been destroyed. Their new god leaves them with the knowledge that they can create music, and thus express themselves individually.
[This of course was not a premeditated concept song, as its not really even a song, but a way to show how I like to interpret art, and how anything can carry a meaning, as long as its in your own mind]
Application:
We take after that which we worship. Many of us have gods that are mechanical (TV) and uniformed (Money) that cause us to become like them. These gods can only imitate color and feeling, because the only real beauty is found in human expression. When we begin to devote our time and love to a paintbrush or a melody or a camera, we realize our worth and enter our place in the universe. To find this meaning conveyed in a serious song, listen to "Exseqour", hosted on this site.
Music:
Bass, Guitar, and Drums marriage played by Zapruder and part of a previously exsisting instrumental that is to be used for an upcoming song. Vocals and Ukelele done in one take by Zapruder and McFadden, respectively. The instrumental is the first one hosted by this site to show some order, but can't be heard over all of the Samoan chaos, feedback, and death-screeching.
