Story Behind the Song
This is probably the meanest thing I've ever written, but I didn't set out to write a "mean" song. It probably is an accurate description of how I felt at the time, but that's all water under the bridge. Honestly, I think it's kind of funny.
Basically, a couple of years ago, I was broken up with via e-mail! That takes a lot of guts, right!? About the only thing less personal would have been an IM. Anyway, the main theme throughout the message was "I don't deserve you. You deserve better..... blah blah blah." Ya' know what? She was right! She doesn't deserve me.... she doesn't deserve "anything at all."
Lyrics
I regret the day that I met you.
I thank the heavens for the day that we said goodbye.
You really set me up for a fall.
You're right you don't deserve me.
You don't deserve anything at all.
I gave you so many chances to make everything OK.
But, you were really gone.... far, far away.
Your past caught up with you and it's so easy to see.
You're the worst thing that ever happened to me.
And you left no explaination, no call...
You're right, you don't deserve me...
Have you any conscience at all?
I should have seen the writing on the wall.
You're right you don't deserve me...
You don't deserve anything at all.
You lied and cheated so much, until you had my trust.
Then, you took it way too far and you left... you left me crushed.
Now, I don't even care, you're a distant memory.
My heart's got a lock and you will never have a key.
Just go away. Don't call.
You're right you don't deserve me.
You don't deserve anything at all.
