Story Behind the Song
I wrote the music to this song from a poem my husband wrote to me on Valentine's Day.
Lyrics
"Purr," said the cat,
to his intimate mate.
"Purr back," said she,
without a debate.
They had sunshine
and catnip
and milk on their plate,
but each thanked the other
for their satisfied state.
Whiskers, paws and tails
were entwined.
Put tongue to fur
in a mutual grind.
Lay 'round all day long
if they felt so inclined.
Life was so good
wish they had more than nine.
"Purr," said the cat
in a lazy way.
"Purr back," said she,
how happy were they?
They drove across town
in a red Chevrolet,
and stopped for a lick
at the Catnip Cafe.
