Caído en Sarajevo (Fallen at Sarajevo) is a song in Spanish about the sufferings of the innocent victims of war.
Credits: Lyrics by Emil Groth / Music by Emil Groth & Daniel Duhart / Recorded at Estudio 9 and Estudio Marco Polo, Santiago, Chile / Engineered by Javier Duhart / Produced by ARKA.

    Story Behind the Song
It was written by a friend Emil Groth and ARKA bandmember Daniel Duhart at the beginning of the 90's, shocked by the civil war that was ocurring in Yugoslavia at the time. Emil originally would sing the song accompanied by Daniel on guitar, and we liked it so much that in 1994 we asked him to lend it to us for our album "Ecos del Sistema" (Echoes of the System), where we recorded a first version. Now, nine years later, we recorded this new version, which is instrumentally and technically much more elaborate. We believe it manages to convey the drama of the innocent victims of war.

The band line-up on the recording is:
    Daniel Duhart: guitars, backing vocals
    Javier Duhart: vocals, bass guitar
    Ignacio Meneses: drums

The recording was done on hard disk multitrack recording equipment.

    Lyrics
Oh Jan oh Jan oh Jan
    Dime si aún estoy vivo
Oh Jan oh Jan oh Jan
    Hay dos niños destrozados
Al otro lado de la calle

Oh Jan oh Jan oh Jan
    No me dejes solo
    Tengo miedo de morir
    Esparcido, desangrado
    En una calle de Sarajevo

Oh Jan oh Jan oh Jan
    No siento mis piernas
    Y aún rugen los morteros
    Esparciendo muerte
    Sobre Sarajevo

    Recuerdas Jan aquella piedra
Junto a la acequia del vecino
    Donde nos sentábamos cuando niños
    Por el cielo tranquila volaba
La luna ciega de su luz
Y hablábamos de la profunda acequia

Oh Jan oh Jan oh Jan
    Cuán lejos estaba la guerra
Oh Jan oh Jan oh Jan
    Cuán lejos estaba la muerte
Oh Jan oh Jan oh Jan

    Recuerdas Jan cómo soñamos
Sería el mundo, tú y yo
    Adolescentes ingenuos
    Entonces no había tanto odio
    Nada parecía ser tan cruel
Ay cómo amábamos la vida entonces

Oh Jan oh Jan oh Jan
    Cuán lejos estaba la guerra
Oh Jan oh Jan oh Jan
    Cuán lejos estaba la muerte

Oh Jan oh Jan oh Jan
    No me dejes solo
    Tengo miedo de morir
    Esparcido, desangrado
    En una calle de Sarajevo

Oh Jan oh Jan oh Jan
    No siento la vida
    Y aún rugen los morteros
    Esparciendo llantos
    Sobre Sarajevo
    Sarajevo
