Story Behind the Song
This tune was originally called 'Groove Antenna" and performed in typical rock style with lot's of distorted guitar, drums, etc... The original chorus said something about "picking up signals on a groove antenna" and didn't have much of a hook, to sober people anyway. We've never been to San Diego but we hear it's nice.
Lyrics
Cold in San Diego
It’s so cold in the arctic sea, and it’s lonely on the moon. (Aye, ya)
Here in the back yard, sitting in my favorite tree
I’m not alone, And I’ve got to be going home soon.
It don’t feel right, when it’s cold in San Diego
When the sun is dirty blonde, and fond of burning me.
It don’t feel right when it’s cold in San Diego
And the sun keeps leaving town like a wound that’s killing me
But it’s alright cause she’s…
I feel so old time is free
But you know who pays the bill
Over the next hill I’m waiting for the sun to go down
I’m in trouble again
And I’m gonna be all alone soon.
I’m wearing a mask to find some water
In the desert that you left behind
It’s all just carrion, so just tarry on
Cause the sand doesn’t give a damn
I’m wearing a mask to find some water
To find some water in the sand.
