Ochiba (Fallen Leaves) - English version. An almost-emo song by INARI performed in English by TJF. Recorded off a soundboard at INARI's last concert and enhanced by Eri from MachiKara.
CD: Kamikaze Nation   Label: 1000 Fishing
Credits: Vocals: TJF (Lead), TAKU (Backup / Harmony). Guitar: TJF (Lead), Machiko (Second / Rhythm), Bass: TAKU. Drums: Hiro.

    Story Behind the Song
This song was originally written as a tribute to all the friends we've made who've had to leave us because their exchange study had finished. It's hard to make friends, but a million times harder to let a friend go, and every year we make new friends and say goodbye to old ones.

One day we'll be the ones our friends will say goodbye to, and this song is a sad acknowledgement of the sadness which we are yet to encounter.

The song was originally written for one guitar in a typical three piece band by TJF, but as the band had more recently started to collaborate with sister band, 'MachiKara', a second guitar part was eventually added.

We spent a week throwing around different melodies and song structures, but eventually came up with one which fit the mood of the song. TAKU filled the bass line in one night during band practice. The lyrics were eventually set after about 2 weeks of going 'la la la' to the instrumental parts, and the song was played twice in concert.

For the band's last concert, INARI was set to play English and Japanese songs in alternating order. As 'Ochiba' was a well known INARI song, we had to play it on our last concert but we translated and changed some of the lyrics to English just for a change.

As a result, the original version of this song has been cut down a verse and a chorus and a half for the English version, however it still contains the same tone and mood as the original.

    Lyrics
Walking in the park, there's a cloud in the sky, there's a bird in a tree, there's a tear in your eye and... You and I will always walk forever, on this path we'll always be two people together.

The band is playing, and you're there waiting, for us to play your favorite song... Do you remember, that last December, when we both stayed up all night long?

No more hanging out at sushi bars, no more cruising in my GTR, to lose a friend, is the sunset of our end.

Good friends come, and good friends go, yet I wish it wasn't so. You were always there, you would always care, but I guess I'll never know.

In the fireworks of New Year's Day, I remember what you used to say, to me, we'd be together, best friends forever is what you'd say.

In the fireworks of New Year's Day, I remember what we used to say, to each other, there's not another, who will ever be like you.

I knew you would wait for me forever, my heart is filled with sorrow, when you finally come home, I will still be there tomorrow.
