Story Behind the Song
I had this idea floating around in my head for awhile and though I had the melody, I couldn't get the lyrics until one day, I was driving on the highway from Denver to Colorado Springs and then they hit me. I had to pull over and write them down and then when I got to where my studio was, I recorded the lyrics on the already demo music track. This is a perfect example of a song coming out of nowhere,as I didn't write this from the singers' standpoint really. I was married at the time and wasn't having any martial difficulties, but this song was almost prophetic in that it almost relays the emotional upheaval with the break up of my marriage. I recorded this particular version at Free Reelin' sound in Denver with my friend Dave Tessier producing, engineering and playing drums, I did the rest. I was going to re-record the vocals and probably still will, as my voice was about shot when I did this take, but I lost heart in music at the time because of the problems with my marriage.I never knew where this song fit in my catalog of songs, but I like it none the less.
