Story Behind the Song
about ambivolence of making life altering decisions. It's up to the listener to decide if he's leaving or coming back? melody came to me one day going in to work, I had to run back to the car to sing into my handheld recorder. I had the title in my notes and after I came up with, "A million miles gone", it all came together.
Lyrics
Good morning love, I’m writing to you from here
Long open road filled with possibility
Words we said in yesterday
Are slowly growing dim as my mood greets this pretty day
I’m 30 miles from Memphis
And a million miles gone
I know I left, without giving you reasons
I’m on the brink of something I must do alone
Every day that I’m away
Makes the answer closer to me and all that I can say
I’m 30 miles from Memphis
And a million miles gone
(bridge)
Any exit I may take, still could take me back to you
Hypocrisy and contradiction smile
In the end, I’ll be defined by the choices I will make
What is left behind, is left behind
