Story Behind the Song
Heres the deal on Shiva. Its not sacreligious, and its not pro or con anything, and its definitely not anti-christian, or pro-hindu. In Hindu lore, Shiva
destroyed and recreated the world, so she seemed like a "a cool thing to write about" that might raise an eyebrow. Its not written from my point of view. Its just a vision of how all the different global "religious" offering might look like from the point of
view of a troubled younger person (our target
audience), perhaps the ramblings of an intellectual college student. If there is any message that I may really mean, its that...for most of us.....we are really our own god, or we recreate God in OUR image in
our own ego, and that we all believe what we want to believe.
Lyrics
VI
Looked around the grand buffet of mice and gods of man.
Everything looks good when starved and my soul is growing thin.
Zeus the big bad thunder gods' expiration date is passed.
Looking for a bigger god so mine can kick yours ass.
CH
Shiva eats the worlds
And spits it out again
If I can swallow Shiva
Will I know how and when
I was made so small
And the world came to be
Interpret most of all
The mystery of me
VII
Tried to understand the point of a thing called holy war.
Beat you with my loving grace until your bleeding on the floor.
Park my car eternally and ride my Dalai Lama.
Buddhas living never ends and I sure do like the karma.
CH II
But Shiva eats the worlds
And recreates the sky
If I can swallow Shiva
Will I know how and why
My ego is so big
And how I carry on
Are we our own god?
I've reached my rubicon
Recreate me, loving grace until I bleed for more....recreate.
