Story Behind the Song
Watching girls that are exceptionally good dancers gave me the idea for the song. I wrote this song one night in a club. It took about 30 minutes but the complete arrangement took more time. It took about 8 hours of fun to record it in my project studio in San Diego. Lou Fannuchi is featured on the accordion and Chris Vitas on the fiddle.
Lyrics
Sheila, Shame On You
Lyrics and music by R. Barry Knox
Copyright 1998 House of Knox (ascap)
Verse I:
She comes about nine almost every night.
When the bands on stage jamming hot and tight. She moves around weaving out and end,
never pausing long, except to kiss a friend.
Her name is Sheila. Oh look at Sheila.
Verse II:
She moves on slowly through the wild crowd,
spots a handsome cowboy standing quite, not loud. Extends her hands with a come-on sign,
to join her dancing Cajon country time.
Harmony:
She does a glide, slide, twist and turn,
a slow push and pull with no concern.
Her name is Sheila. Oh look at Sheila.
Sheila what won't you do. Sheila, Sheila -
Shame on you.
Verse III:
She holds on the cowboy with a frenzy grip.
Pulls him on her almost lip-to-lip. Excites herself and the handsome man, dancing wild and crazy to the Cajun country band.
Harmony: repeat as above.
