Story Behind the Song
This song always gets something out of me and puts it back with an enhanced content. It enrichens the soul, the mind, and one can just wonder how this great artist, namely Eric Satie, could compose such wonderful pieces and give them crazy titles. But that's how his genius worked. Debussy and Ravel both learnt a lot from him. What I learnt from him is the importance of balance and harmony in music. Although he wanted his works to be considered as chamber music,I just cannot do that. Now, am I doing an injustice to the spirit of his song? Well, judge it for your own.
This song is charming and I have made efforts to show you how different interpretations it can entail. My adaptation may be such an approach, a new touch to the original piece. It may sound more energetic and even harsh, but perhaps you will find it a worthwile tribute paid to Eric Satie. If so, I would be more than happy. All comments welcome.
