this is a pretty standard folk piece, though i would say it has better lyrics and message than most. plus, i threw in an a-7th (if any of you are music junkies) and a Bm7, which makes it a little different than your average woody guthrie tune. this is the first song on my album, against the blinking green. |

Story Behind the Song
i went to santa fe, new mexico for a few days back in february. i did a lot of street performing while i was there, and one afternoon i was talking with a homeless man, travelin' tim, that i had met in the square. i asked him where there was a cheap place to get something to eat, and he said, "here, come with me to the supermarket and i'll give you one of my foodstamps." he hardly knew me, and he was a man with next to nothing. standing in the face of that sort of complete lack of selfishness, i began to realize the true nature of anarchy.
