Story Behind the Song
Recorded at The Recording Workshop in Massieville Ohio, studio E. I played 12-string guitar, piano, vox & co-produced. Larry Pester played synthesizer & produced. Tony Cottril on drums. Bass was played by my old friend, Ronald Koal's bassist, who worked several songs with me, and I'm sorry I just cannot recall his name...duuuh. When he sees this, I hope he touches base so I can add his credit.
Lyrics
1. It's time to make a change in my life
It's time just now to put away the knife
That cuts my brain and pierces my heart
There ain't no shame as I make a new
start
2. And I don't care if I'm looking kinda square
Cos I've been over here, and I've been over there
I know what it is and I know what it's not
I know how close I came and what I almost bought
Chorus: And I set the sail. Sail away
with me. And I set those sails,
Sailin' away in me
3. There's a little secret that I found out
As simple as it is, it makes me wanna shout
The power at hand when my head's an open circuit
Any place I choose, any way I wanna work it
4. Did a whole lot of riding on the desert and the plains
A whole lotta cruisin' on the isle of insane
Flirtin' with the devil while my spirit took a dive
I'm shocked I tell ya that I'm still alive
CH:
5. If there's any room for me to give advice
About a little gloom in your sugar & spice
A little bit of brilliance lights the dark, dark hallway
A little bit of standing, and ya won't stow away
6. And I don't care if I'm looking kinda square
Cos I've been over here, and I've been over there
I know what it is and I know what it's not
I know how close I came and what I almost bought
CH: out
