    Story Behind the Song
This song is based on a personal experience I had a while back. I was dating a girl that always seemed to have her mind on something else. No matter how much I tried to show that I cared, or how many nice things I did for her, she became more and more distant. After much frustration, it finally ended. I felt bad about it for a while, but then I realized that it wasn't about me. Throughout her whole life, she's been "running." The whole episode was the same "play," but I was a new "actor." When I realized that, I was able to move on with my life, find someone else that was actually worth spending my time with, and I feel that I'm much better off for doing so. I'm perfectly content knowing that I did everything that I could do to make that relationship work, but there are some things about some people that just can't be changed--constantly running away is one of them.

    Lyrics
I've been thinking about you for so long.
On so many nights when I just can't sleep.
Thinkin' 'bout all the times we shared,
and how everything ended so badly.

Then I sit down and think for a while.
And, I figure it out. It's 'cause....

You keep on runnin'. Yeah, you do.
You keep on searching for another day.
You won't even let me show you how much....
I truly love you... How much I really care...
And, I do. Yeah, I do.

I'd been searching for true love for so long.
I thought I'd found it in you.
Then, you changed and you pushed me away.
There was nothing that I could do.

Girl, you show me what life is about.
And, then you rip my heart out. It's cold.
