Story Behind the Song
I wrote this in one random weekday night, at 2 in the morning. In my mind, I was sitting next to the window listening to the rain outside, but I think I might have made that up for dramaticism.
I have since added guitar to it. It sounds better live so check out my website for shows in NYC! www.teresaleemusic.com
Lyrics
(Verse I)
Don’ look now
You might see
Someone there
Who might be
Close to you
But you choose
To let go
She’ll go too
From this joy
From this pain
From the boy
To escape
You said you…
You might be
Then you stopped
-Just to breath
Heard your pulse
Oh it raced
Couldn’t speak
-Not to me
Was it spite? Anticipation
Couldn’t stand, my hesitation…
(CHORUS)
I don’t, need to know right now
How to feel; its too soon too tell
Wouldn’t know, what to do anyhow
I’ve been thrown, I’ve been tossed around
Delirious, see myself falling down
Bittersweet, feel it with every round
Of the shots, rushing to my head
Every time, supposed to be trust instead
I deny…too scared to try, too wise to cry…
So I just lied
(Verse II)
Wouldn’t trust
My impulse
Too naïve
To believe
It was true
What you said
Not out loud
But in your head
I believed the fabrication
I embraced my devastation…
(CHORUS)
I don’t, need to know right now
How to feel; its too soon too tell
Wouldn’t know, what to do anyhow
I’ve been thrown, I’ve been tossed around
Delirious, see myself falling down
Bittersweet, feel it with every round
Of the shots, rushing to my head
Every time, supposed to be trust instead
I deny…too scared to try, too wise to cry…
So I just lied
(BRIDGE)
I think I…I think I…never mind
I think I…I think I…never mind
I think I…I think I…never mind
‘Cause I’ve been thrown, I’ve been tossed around
Delirious, see myself falling down
Bittersweet, feel it with every round
Of the shots, rushing to my head
Every time, supposed to be trust instead
I deny…too scared to try, too wise to cry…
So I just lied
