Becca and I decided one night at four in the morning to write our obligatory "LA sucks" song. We're still working on the version with her on vocals, but it's a lot like this.
Credits: written by Zach Sands and Becca Worthington, performed by Zach Sands

    Story Behind the Song
It isn't that we completely hate Los Angeles - we just needed to vent. Besides, writing a song together at four in the morning after doing shots of rum all night seemed like kind of a fun thing to do. I don't really remember which lines are hers and which ones are mine, and that's actually one of my favorite things about this song.

    Lyrics
I left my home in a photograph
    In a shoebox stored away
    Faded like the memories
    Of an ordinary day
    Compass on my dashboard,
    I'm heading for LA

No one ever sleeps at night
In this city of vacant eyes
    We're breathing in the staleness
    Of their lies and compromise
    I hope this isn't where
Our dreams will go to die

This crazy town will never bring me down
These falling stars will wake up on the ground
This crazy town will never bring me down

    And I can never tell
    The business from the friends
This is where the sun sets
    And every sidewalk ends
And every day I dream I'll leave
    I wake up here again

    Changeless madmen screaming
    From a studio soapbox
    Cardboard faces, plastic trees
    Streets where no one walks
    Strained whitesmiling conversations
    Where no one really talks

This dirty town will never bring me down
These falling stars will wake up on the ground
This dirty town will never bring me down

The words have lost their meaning
    But someone calls a toast
    Haunted by their former lives
It seems like everyone's a ghost
Of all the things I left behind
    I miss myself the most

    Movie stars in magazines
    Sitting pretty, looking smug
    Isn't everybody beautiful?
    On some prescription drug
And here I am, I want my mom
    In a baby powder hug

This fucking town will never bring me down
These falling stars will wake up on the ground
This fucking town will never bring me down.
No, it'll never bring me down...
